Well-known public universities

• University of Dhaka — the oldest and largest; strong in arts, science, business, and law.
• BUET — engineering and architecture; admission test in physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
• University of Rajshahi, Chittagong, Jahangirnagar, Khulna, and others — large public universities with broad faculties.
• Medical colleges — MBBS/BDS through the national admission test.

Private universities to check

• North South University, BRAC University, Independent University Bangladesh, and AUST — among the larger private universities in Dhaka.
• Check UGC approval status before paying any admission fee.
• Visit the campus, talk to current students, and compare lab, library, and internship facilities.
