Guide to admissions in Bangladesh. Dates, fees, and eligibility change every year — always confirm against the official circular for that session before applying.
College admission (HSC / Class XI)
- Application is online through the central college admission system after SSC results.
- You choose colleges in order of preference; selection follows SSC GPA and the college's cut-off.
- Keep your SSC roll, registration number, and board ready; pay the application fee only through the official channel.
- Official portal: check the education board site for your board (for example, Dhaka board: dhakaeducationboard.gov.bd).
University admission
| Public universities | Each university publishes its own circular and unit-wise tests after HSC results; many now use cluster systems for some units. Check each university's own admission site. |
| Engineering (BUET and others) | Written admission test in physics, chemistry, and mathematics; eligibility is set by SSC/HSC GPA in science subjects. |
| Medical (MBBS/BDS) | National admission test run centrally; eligibility and seat details are in the DGHS circular each year. |
| Private universities | Admission rounds run several times a year; fees and scholarships vary widely — compare the total cost, not only the first-semester fee. |
Documents usually needed
- SSC and HSC mark sheets / certificates (or provisional copies).
- Recent passport-size photographs and signature scan.
- Birth registration or NID details where the form asks for them — never share these with unofficial agents.
- Quota certificates only if you genuinely qualify and the circular asks for them.
